Tagetes erecta 'Marigold'

"Marigolds are a popular annual flower that are easy to grow and care for. Here are some tips for the care of marigolds:
1. Watering: Marigolds prefer well-draining soil that is kept consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plants deeply once or twice a week, depending on the weather and soil conditions.
2. Light: Marigolds prefer full sun, which means they need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. If they don't get enough sun, they may become leggy and not bloom as well.
3. Temperature: Marigolds prefer warm temperatures between 70-75°F (21-24°C). They can tolerate temperatures as low as 50°F (10°C) but not for extended periods.
4. Fertilizer: Marigolds are not heavy feeders, but they can benefit from a balanced fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, as this can lead to lush foliage but fewer flowers.
5. Deadheading: Deadheading, or removing spent flowers, can encourage the plant to produce more blooms. Pinch off the spent flowers at the base of the stem, or use scissors or pruners to cut them off.
6. Pest control: Marigolds are relatively pest-resistant, but they can be susceptible to aphids and spider mites. If you notice any pests, spray the plants with a gentle insecticidal soap or neem oil.
7. Soil: Marigolds prefer well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Consider adding compost or peat moss to the soil to improve its fertility.
With proper care, marigolds can provide bright and cheerful blooms throughout the growing season."
